Nanotherapeutics pharmaceutical company set to open in Alachua

A new plant opened in Gainesville and will be responsible for manufacturing vaccines and drug treatments aimed at protecting soldiers from both chemical and biological threats.

Nanotherapeutics' new plant, located near Progress Park in Alachua County, is a $138 million-project occupying a whopping 183,000 square feet of space.

Market spotlight: Broadmoor

LongHorn opens in Butler North

Butler Plaza's expansion seems endless, with new businesses constantly moving in, and plenty of new restaurants making choosing where to eat on Friday night, or any night, a difficult choice.

For all of you steak lovers out there, there is a new restaurant on the Gainesville dining scene that is creating a bit of a buzz around town. Gainesville's first LongHorn Steakhouse opened this week at 2933 Clark Butler Boulevard, adding yet another major restaurant to Butler Plaza North, which is home to many new businesses including, but certainly not limited to, Aldi Supermarket and Jersey Mike's Subs.

Lake City's annual Suwannee Hulaween is coming up!

The fourth annual Suwannee Hulaween will be taking place on October 28th through October 30th in Live Oak at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. There is also a pre-party kick off event on Thursday, October 27th, in case you want even more Halloween festival fun. This four-day stellar annual music festival is hosted and headlined by The String Cheese Incident and is held outdoors on four stages. The event also gives those in attendance the opportunity to camp on site at the park for the entire weekend.

Suwannee Roots Revival is coming to Live Oak

The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is getting ready to host the inaugural Suwannee Roots Revival that will be taking place October 13th through October 16th in Live Oak, Florida. This is a throwback, family friendly event that will include camping, disc golf, and plenty of music on various stages, including at The Amphitheater and on The Porch. Fun and music will also take place at The Dance Tent and at Workshops at The Music Hall & The Music Farmers Hands-on Workshop stage. Many of these music spaces will be decorated with beautiful tie-dye backdrops, and attendees are welcome to bring their instruments to enjoy the various "pickin' parties" that will be taking place throughout the campgrounds.

Market spotlight: Buckingham Forest

Buckingham Forest is located in northwest Gainesville just south of Newberry Road and west of 75th Street/Tower Road. The neighborhood features charming homes built in the late 1970s. Homes here typically range between 1,800 and 3,000 square feet and average in price from $229,000 to $359,895.

The big news for this neighborhood is the inventory. With only three homes on the market here and 2.6 months of inventory, there is definitely a seller’s market in this neighborhood. Typically, six months of inventory represents a balanced market, with more than six month indicating a buyer’s market and less than six months indicating a seller’s market.

Gainesville is one of America's most bike-friendly cities

Gainesville has recently been working on expanding and improving bicycle sharing programs around the city, and, as of August, has increased the number of bike stations which has doubled from two to four. Plenty has also been done to make biking to campus easier and safer for students who don't have cars. Bike lanes have been added, as well as multi-use paths on campus. With favorable biking conditions around town, Gainesville was just ranked the most bicycle friendly city in Florida.

Market spotlight: Three Rivers Estates

Let's check in with Three Rivers Estates located in Fort White, Florida at the Columbia, Suwanee County line off of Highway 27. This neighborhood has plenty to offer, including many homes and properties that are located either on or near the river.

Fort White and Columbia County as a whole have 6.4 months and 6.5 months of inventory, respectively. This indicates an extremely balanced market with neither a strong buyer’s market nor a strong seller’s market. Typically, more than six months of inventory would suggest a buyer’s market. Three Rivers Estates currently has 12 homes on the market representing 14.4 months of inventory, so we definitely have a buyers market on our hands in this neighborhood with plenty of options for homebuyers to choose from.
