The Alachua Learning Academy (ALA) was the recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Award last Tuesday, September 19th. The Alachua Learning Academy is not only one of 14 schools in Florida to receive this recognition, but the only Alachua County public school to be recognized. This showcases the ALA's commitment to excellence in education and their determination to create an environment where every student can thrive.
The criteria used to evaluate schools include student scores, subgroup student scores, and graduation rates. The U.S. Department of Education recognized this public charter school as an exemplary high-performing school due to its accomplished and enthusiastic teaching staff, individualized learning methodology, commitment to charter education, prioritization of student well-being, nurturing and inclusive atmosphere, and its consistent track record as an A-grade institution.
The Alachua Learning Academy has been consistent in its commitment to quality learning, earning scores in the top 3% in math, top 12% in reading, and top 10% in science out of the entire state of Florida. It has also earned recognition in the past from Nickelodeon for its lunch program, consisting of home-cooked, vegetarian meals.
Parents of ALA students are particularly excited and proud of the school. They appreciate the school's dedicated teachers and the hard work put in by their children; many parents even make long commutes to ensure their children can attend this exceptional school.
