Southwest 34th Street, Southwest Second Avenue and West University Avenue experience serious congestion regularly, leading residents to consider the roads a major public safety concern in past years.
Dozens of accidents have taken place at the intersections of W University Ave & SW 34th as well as SW 2nd Ave & SW 34th, including a scooter fatality in October 2014.
In light of these persisting concerns, the Florida Department of Transportation has arranged a hearing at Holy Faith Catholic Church, located at 747 NE 43rd St. Attendees will have a chance to look over proposed solutions and chat with project coordinators.
The event will be on Monday, January 6th at 4 p.m. An open house will be held from 4-6 p.m. with public discussion beginning at 6 p.m. Possible solutions include adding a bike lane to SW 34th, closing certain median openings, and improving lighting and drainage.
