A new and quite popular restaurant delivery app, UberEATS, recently launched in Gainesville, and now, another food delivery app is hitting the scene, only this one delivers groceries. You may never need to leave your house again--for food, anyway.
The ever growing Instacart app allows users to place orders from a variety of retailers including Publix, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, CVS and Petco, and delivers the orders on the same day, often as soon as one hour later. Customers choose their groceries from a web application, and items are shopped for and delivered by a personal shopper. A small fee typically applies, but Instacart is offering a special promotion for new Gainesville customers that includes a free one-year subscription of Instacart Express, which is "unlimited free grocery delivery for orders over $35." That's an incredible deal to be able to receive your groceries without having to leave your couch!
Instacart began its service approximately five years ago and has become increasingly popular, mimicking a similar model as Shipt, which delivers groceries from Publix and adult beverages from ABC Fine Wine & Spirits. The company has been operating in Florida for only the last couple of years, and is just now available in Gainesville.
