Food halls seem to be a trend happening in big cities all over the country. They are essentially a modern, hip version of a food court featuring variety a fantastic, high quality food vendors all under one roof. Gainesville is jumping on the food hall scene with plans to open one at Butler Town Center which will host approximately 11 to 15 restaurant vendors and will be named Stengel Field Food Hall.
Food vendors that are currently in the lineup for the space include a craft beer tap room, a French bistro, kiosks featuring flowers, fruits and vegetables, and many more. Hopefully, the food hall will be able to attract potential restauranteurs that need a little help getting off the ground.
The space will occupy 13,000 square feet and will showcase and aviation theme, and it is slated to open in the fall of 2018. The area that is now Butler Plaza was once Stengel Field, an aviation field area named for the local aviation pioneer Carl Stengel.
This is a major addition in development for Butler Town Center, where plans already include "more than 200 homes, shops, a 14-screen movie theater and more restaurants."
