The Standard is underway!

The prime plot of real estate located at the corner of University Avenue and Northwest 13th Street across from the University of Florida campus is soon to be home to The Standard, a mixed-use development that will include ground-floor retail,  433 residential units as well as a hotel with 144 rooms, and a multilevel parking garage with over 1,100 spaces to accommodate residents, guests and patrons.

While construction on the southern portion of the development has begun, construction of the apartment portion is not scheduled to begin until September 1, and completion of the entire project is slated for Spring of 2017.

Retail and restaurants occupying ground floor space in the complex will include a TargetExpress, Chick-fil-A, Bento Café and Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill. Five other ground floor suites are under lease negotiations and there are three other spaces still available for rent, ranging from approximately 1,200 square feet to 6,000 square feet.

The TargetExpress is a smaller and more efficient version of a typical Target store. This location will total approximately 23,000 square feet. The Butler Plaza Target, in comparison, is approximately 130,000 square feet.  Only a few of the smaller format stores have been opened by the company. TargetExpress includes a smaller assortment of merchandise and a larger selection of grab-and-go foods and is in line with a similar concept to the smaller format Publix that is currently under construction across 13th Street.

The Chick-fil-A at The Standard will be the sixth location in Gainesville, the Bento Café will be the third location in Gainesville and the Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill will be the second location in Gainesville following the one that is currently under construction slated to open in August in the Archer Centro West Shopping Center.
