Get ready, Gainesville! Market conditions are on the up and up, and the economy is recovering from where it was just a few short years ago. Many projects that had previously been put on hold are now able to move forward, and there are plenty of commercial and residential developments on the horizon.
One of the largest projects in the works is Celebration Pointe. It is a 225-acre mixed-use project that will include outlet retail, restaurant space, office and residential space, a hotel, an entertainment stage and town center, and will be built in serval phases. It will ultimately include a mile of frontage on I-75.
The downtown Gainesville Greens 12-floor condo project was scrapped and replaced with new plans for a hotel in the same location on Lot 10, which is owned by the city.
University Corners now has a new owner and name, The Standard, and is a mix of apartments, retail space, hotel and parking garage in a 10-story building at the corner of 13th Street and University Avenue.
The new West 38 development used to be Creekside at Beville, and is currently apartment buildings with future plans for a hotel, retail space, office space, and possibly a conference center. It is located west of Southwest 34th Street on Hull Road.
North of Gainesville on State Road 121 is where there used to be plans for the LandMar Subdivision, but Plum Creek, who owns the property, has new plans to develop housing for seniors.
Furthermore, the previously on-hold Hatchet Creek has new plans which include industrial developments near the airport and housing near Ironwood Golf Course.
Gainesville development plans are back in full force and things are looking very exciting for the city. For more information on commercial and residential project changes and action, check out this article from Gainesville Magazine.
