Gainesville offers best commute in Florida

July 14, 2015

gville busWhen it comes to traffic on your way to work, Gainesville offers the best average commute time in all of Florida. At 19.9 minutes, it is ranked 20th nationally for drivers, and 23rd nationally for those who use public transit for their commute.

Many factors contribute to the relatively easy travel, including the fact that Gainesville is a fairly compact town. Furthermore, the city has done a lot to address land-use planning, manage urban sprawling, and maintain an urban core.

Gainesville also offers plenty of alternative modes of transportation, and with traffic levels varying throughout the day with students, faculty and staff all commuting at different times, the average commute time is kept relatively short.
