Butler Plaza is expanding and adding Butler Town Center, and new retailers could include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Marshalls and Michael’s.
These would be the first Gainesville locations for Dick’s, a large sporting goods store, and Marshalls, a discount clothing, home goods and accessories store. However, Michael’s craft store already has a Butler Plaza location.
Also expected to open next year as part of the Butler expansion are a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Lowe’s Home Improvement, and Sam’s Club.
Once Wal-Mart and Lowe’s open, the eastern end of the plaza will be demolished to make way for Butler Town Center, which will include smaller shops in a walkable environment.
Expansion plans include adding 758,000 square feet, making Butler Plaza a total of almost 2 million square feet.
