Property tax values stable in Alachua County

June 3, 2015

Gville Property ValuesAlachua County’s estimated property values show an increase of 2.8% over last year’s values. Of the $12.1 billion of taxable property, $149 million is in new construction. Alachua County’s report shows that its economy is stable, with less extreme highs and lows than most.

The property value estimates show the largest gains happening in the unincorporated county, while a few of Alachua’s smaller cities showed losses, including Archer, Waldo and Newberry.

County officials are working toward a budget, to be tentatively adopted by mid-July and finalized by September 22, that would include raises for all county employees, as well as improvements for roads, ambulances and social services programs.

Recent budget talks have reported predictions that property tax values for Alachua County will rise another 3% in 2017, and then continue to rise approximately 2% for the next few years.
